We plan our sessions in accordance with the Early Years Foundation stage which sets |
the standards for learning, development and care for children from Birth to five. This is |
really integrated into the every child matters agenda.
We cover all 6 areas of learning:- |
• Personal, Social and Emotional |
Children are encouraged to work as individuals, in pairs or in groups. We provide |
experiences and activities that enable the children to develop a positive sense of |
themselves and others and to gain independence. Children are encouraged to make |
choices. They are given opportunities to express their feelings and to build relationships |
within the Pre School. All children are regularly presented with situations to encourage |
turn taking, sharing, co-operation, listening and helping / caring. |
• Problem Solving |
We encourage the children with their mathematical development through activities |
such as sorting, counting, matching, number games, shapes, spaces, stories, songs and |
games. |
• Knowledge and Understanding of the World |
We encourage all children to explore, problem solve, make predictions and to make |
their own decisions. We plan to stimulate children’s interests and curiosity. Children are |
encouraged to use all equipment safely. |
• Communication, Language and Literacy |
The children are encouraged to talk and think about their learning, as this supports |
and enhances their language skills. They have access to a wide range of books and |
opportunities for mark making are offered daily. |
• Creative Development |
Children are encouraged to express and develop their creativity through art, |
role play, imaginative play and music. |
• Physical Development |
We provide activities and games to promote spatial awareness to improve children’s |
co-ordination, movement and control. |
